Suffolk Punch was launched on December 11th 2012. A 56' semi cruiser, highly spec'd by it's owner. She will be based around Brinklow area. We would like to wish Geoff & Jane many happy cruising years with her.

Todays news........we have now filled all build slots for 2013, so now is the time to start thinking ahead if you would like us to build a boat for you! 2014 slots are now available for forward booking...remember, it can take an unexpected amount of time to work out your perfect layout and wish list, within your expected budget. So, if you are one of those lucky people expecting to retire, sell your house, or just have a new leisure boat or liveaboard, around 2014, now is the time to meet us and book your slot! Our current build is coming on well, and we are expecting to launch her by the start of December, when we will start over again with a 60' trad to be called 'Willow Too'. You can follow our regular updates and photo progress on our facebook page. Wishing this was your boat? Good news, we have one build slot available for next year, following an unexpected cancellation, so give us a ring, or email us, and get your slot booked whilst it is still available. Some customers have waited two and a half years for a build slot with us, so this is quite a short wait....by the time you have your boat all planned, it will be build time! Think ahead now, then get in touch for more information.
Remember, if you use Facebook, you can 'like' Beacon Boats Ltd's page and follow each build in pictures as we build. Two weeks ago we launched N/B 'Off the Rails', a 'semi-cruiser' style 57' narrowboat, painted to reflect the owners steam engine. We will be giving a page on the gallery to her shortly, when internal finished photo's are done. Please give the owners a wave f you see them out and about. At the same time, we craned in the next hull, a 56' Semi to be called 'Suffolk Punch' which is to have all sorts of new features....but that's another story as we go along. You can follow the build on our facebook page, just 'like' the page and your wall will receive our updates. We have recently had news that a build slot in 2013 is cancelled, due to unforseen personal circumstances for the people who had booked it. Therefore, we have one build slot available in the second half of next year, so if you think you would like us to build your boat, and want one within 18 months, please drop us an email or call us soon, our slots don't often stay open very long. Ally will be wandering around Crick show on saturday, seeing suppliers and Beacon friends.........perhaps see you there! Wishing you all a good bank holiday! We are sadly going to have to cancel our owners gathering this year. It was intended to be held around the bottom of Foxton Locks, near the beginning of April, as that fitted in with most peoples cruise plans. However, we have received news that locks 38 to 31 will be closed for the last 2 weeks of March, and restrictions are still in place through Leicester, allowing cruising only between 10am and 2pm, this will mean it would take some time for people to pass through Leicester itself, and require safe mooring overnight, which is limited.
Hopefully water levels will improve this year...not that we wish for a wet summer, but I am sure many of us have struggled in low water levels at times last summer, a little improvement would be good! If the situation changes, we may be able to re-think this, but currently it is not looking practicle Just to let people know, we may have an early build slot available soon, please ring us for details if you are looking for a build slot in the near future, we may be able to help! Ring us on 07949 984656.
Following a decision to introduce a Bye Law, by the CBA, we will now be issuing all new builds with a new BSS certificate, as well as the RCD certificate.
Post Combustion was successfully launched early december, and the owners have spent Christmas on her, and managed a few trips out. The full details will be published here in February, when we have access for photographs.
We have now started the next boat...already mostly lined, plumbed and electrics in, as well as bulkheads. She will be called 'Off The Rails', as one of her owners is involved with the local steam railway. She is a 'semi-cruiser' style......all will be revealed as we go along. For anyone wishing to watch the progress, please link to our Facebook page (Beacon Boats Ltd) where you will see regular updates and photos of the build. Planning has started for the boat to follow also, when we will be returning to a smaller length boat....we think!! We are still waiting to see how water levels go, regarding the possible meet up in April at Foxton. At the present time, the levels are still too low to be sure we will all get easy enough passage to Foxton, but will keep you updated on this. If the weather continues as it is at the current time, things may well improve. We are now nearing the end of building number 14, N/B 'Post Combustion', and will, all things being equal, launch her at Pillings Lock Marina, on December the 5th. She will be based there over winter, heading south in the spring.
Quite a different style boat for us, but non the less very much a 'Beacon' boat still, many of you will recognise the familiar and popular colours of black, red and cream, but with a few twists this time. This is, sadly, the last boat that Stem to Stern will be painting for us, however, we are very pleased to say that Oxon Boat Painting Co. will now be undertaking our coach painting for future boats. We are looking forward to working with them. Number 15 is already underway, the hull is half built now, and we look forward to working with the next customers, Nigel and Sara. Their boat will be named 'Off the Rails', a reference to Nigels passion and involvement with Steam engines. Don't forget, we run a facebook page where you can follow more closely the build process of each boat, just search 'Beacon Boats Ltd' on facebook, 'like' the page, and you will get our updates on your news feed. Look out for the gallery description and photo's of number 14 around the end of the year. There is now a new thread on the forum for the Beacon gathering we are arranging for 2012. Most customers seem to like the idea of April at Foxton...below the locks,,for a weekend boat gathering and probably a few pints and lots of chat! Please go to the forum and add your thoughts or availability, or contact Ally at Beacon otherwise (easy to sign in for the forum). If attending, please keep an eye on the forum for news of the event and further details.
Just to update everyone, we are currently on our number 14 boat, 'Post Combustion' and number 15 will have the base plate laid in just 4 weeks. We are still well booked to 2014. Anyone with a facebook account can find Beacon Boats Ltd page, 'like' it, and receive all the updates and progress photo's on their own facebook news feed. You can also write on our wall there if you wish...perhaps updates of where customers are, photo's, or boats of ours you have seen on the system. We expanded a week ago....by 32'x10'!!! Yes, we have extra workshop space now...and much needed! Triskaideka launched in June is going far and wide still, and QE111, launched last december has gone off on her first ever 2 week long run round the Leicester Ring.....hope all our other boats have or are enjoying the longer days if not sunshine! |
