Yesterday, March 18th 2014, we launched our 18th new build boat, N/B Bisbigliando. She will be having a gallery page of her own on our site, shortly, for you all to see. We would like to welcome her, and her owners, to the waterways, and wish them every happiness with their new boat.
We also have to now make a sad announcement. During the build of Bisbigliando, last autumn, Neil had a major health problem, which has unfortunately kept him from being able to return to work. Ally has, with the help of some excellent friends, finished the last boat that we launched yesterday. However, after much thought and discussion, we have decided that we will close the business down now. Past and future customers are aware already, future build deposits have been returned, and slots cancelled. A hard decision to make, but we felt, the right one. Beacon boats are very much about the two of us, and customers have often signed up with us because they trust us, and like the ways we work. This way, we close with our good name, no debts or unfinished boats, and are able to offer the warranty still to the newly launched boats. We would like to thank everyone who has been a part of our business lives, for their support over the years, and wish all our customers and boats (who are all still together, all boats with their original owners) the very best for the future. Ally.

![]() The first Beacon Boats Gathering was held last weekend, 7th September 2013, and has been deemed a great success. Whilst only 4 boats could make it in the end, Triskaideka, Serenity, Windsong & QE111, nearly all our past customers, and a couple waiting for their boats, attended without their boats. The afternoon was spent on the water, many looking around the attending boats which the owners were good enough to show off. Then the evening event was held in the Soar Bridge Inn at Barrow-upon-Soar, for a social evening of food, drink, a narrowboat cake, and some Beacon goodies for everyone. Many also visited the workshop to see the current build in progress. We would like to thank all those attending for helping to make the weekend the great success it was! ![]() The Beacon Boats Gatherring is nearly here, with, we hope, 5 boats attending. Nearly all our previous customers are coming, though many have found it too far to come by boat this year. However, we look forward to welcoming Serenity, Windsong, Triskaideka, QE3, and Off the Rails, as well as many other customers, for an evening get together ![]() We are very happy to confirm that we will be holding our Beacon Boat Gathering, on the weekend of the 7th September 2013, at Barrow-upon-Soar, Leics. Attending boats will have reserved mooring spaces above Barrow Deep Lock, (many thanks to the Canal and River Trust for their support in this) and we will be having the main customer gathering at the Soar Bridge Inn, just around the corner, on the saturday afternoon & evening. We already have around 8 boats confirmed to attend...water levels behaving themselves! Most of our customers from the last 10 years will be coming along, even if they can't get by boat. We look forward to seeing everyone again, and know you will all enjoy meeting each other...many of you already know at least some other customers, so it should be a great weekend! ![]() On the 10th June 2013, we launched Willow Too, our 17th new build narrowboat. She has now had her maiden run, and will be cruising off with her owners next weekend. For more pictures you can go to our facebook page (Beacon Boats Ltd), and we will be publishing all her details and pictures of her finished in the near future on our gallery page. We would like to wish her and her owners many happy cruising years! Please contact us if you would like a new build for yourselves, we have a build slot available for launch next summer. ![]() Would you like to have a look around this narrowboat? This is 'Off the Rails', a boat we built and launched during 2012 (more photo's of her in our gallery pages), and we will be showing her to anyone interested in our work, at the Loughborough Canal Festival, on Saturday and Sunday, the 4th and 5th of May. Her owners had her specially built to their requirements, not as a liveaboard boat, but as a place to relax and use the waterways when they have the time. They have kindly offered her to us for the weekend, so people can see our work. She is an unusual 'Semi-cruiser' style narrowboat, so why not come and find us at the festival, have a chat with us and a look around. We will be moored along the main canal stretch. We have an available slot for a new build to be launched next year...now might be just the right time to speak to us! |
