"We just want to say a huge thank you for our beautiful boat that daily becomes a more and more comfortable home.
We appreciated how you supported our decision-making along the way. You listened and tactfully gave guidance when some ideas were obviously barmy and un-do-able (!) and took on board suggestions that were achievable so that together we produced a unique craft. Particular thanks also go to Garry and Lee, those grand lads of XR&D, for the wonderfully fabricated shell, and to Sheila Smith for her immaculate, creative sign writing and art work.
Your patience with us during the build , while selling our house, and since the boats completion, has been exemplary and we fully appreciate the speed with which you have sorted little glitches, and allayed our anxieties.
At Easter, we agreed to allow people to view our boat. There was massive interest of about 100 people to look. Many could not believe a boat could be so well appointed and thought Merryweather was totally gorgeous and a huge surprise.
Viewers already familiar with boats fully admired the quality of the excellent fit-out, exterior finish, and all the extras incorporated in our boat. "

Merryweather is a 57’ Semi-trad bespoke live aboard boat.
Traditional in layout, and yet with some more unusual features to some of our other boats, the owners requested painted T&G above the gunwales in the fore cabin, and chose a soft cream that complimented the oak very nicely. This gave a lovely lightness to the interior, and one double glazed window above the dinette brought even more light into the cabin.
The external colour scheme was also an unusual choice, and one they settled on early in the build, and we were lucky to find exactly matching canopy covering to compliment the turquoise. It certainly stands out amongst the crowd.
A larger than usual solid fuel stove was chosen, to enable them to cook on it during the winter, and good fire protection was made with a large, yet flush tiled hearth that fits in nicely with the traditional cottage appearance they wanted. A slim cupboard by the fore doors, behind the bookcase, houses an ironing board. The Dinette is built the same as on ‘Serenity’ with the changeable direction for the seat back, although a pullout step/storage drawer was built into this one, to give a footrest when facing the saloon. Again, the dinette also houses storage and freezer.
The galley is our spec galley, with the addition of kick board drawers and two lift up floor hatches for cool storage of drinks or vegetables….yes, this boat has leeks in the floor! The Alde Central heating boiler is housed here again, with the swing out cupboard allowing access for maintenance.
The bathroom brings another new feature with the ‘thunder box’ toilet. The owners wanted to have a seat in the bathroom, and also for the toilet to be hidden, so the two requests come together in this design, with a solid oak seat covering the toilet, a cassette one. Bright and cheerful glass tiles were chosen, and mirrors to reflect the port holes.
The bedroom has our usual pull out design bed, except higher in this instance, to give exceptional storage space, especially with the calorifier being tucked away in a cupboard instead on under the bed. Plenty of wardrobe space was built in.
A full canopy was fitted to the stern, so the area is useable throughout the year, and LED lights were flush fitted in the stern at floor level, to allow easier movement on and off the boat at night. 3 colour LED’s were also countersunk into the cratch board as courtesy lighting for nighttime.
All ports and windows are double-glazed. The engine is an Isuzu 42hp, with a battery monitoring system in place. A 3kw Inverter is fitted, with a good bank of batteries. We also fitted an alarm system for Carbon monoxide and gas, and smoke alarms are present as well.
The Sign writing, and charming pixie figure were carried out by Sheila from SAB signs.
This lovely boat came in at under £90,000 complete and delivered, and we wish the owners every happiness aboard.
