"After extensive research we asked Beacon Boats to build our dream.
We had ideas which they discussed and advised, and invented for us. Ali, Andy and Neil have been great to work with and have put up with our idiosyncrasies.
It has been a great experience and they are still around to help us. We have gained a great boat, and some new friends!"

Golcar Lily was launched in June 2007. A bespoke 57' semi-trad, it is a beautiful hull with Josher style bow that handles like a dream.
Externally; hand painted by us, with sign writing by Sheila Smith of Sab Signs on the four recessed panels to the stern sides. Golcar Lily is a lovely traditional looking, all port narrow boat. The external fit includes bow thruster, nav lights to bow and stern, headlight, 4 lockers, smoked glass houdinis, cratch and cover and our own handmade rope fenders.
Internally she has an ash faced ply and solid ash fitout with sapele trim. The reverse layout the customers requested works well with fixed double bedroom to the bow end, lots of storage and our usual pull out extension on the bed.
Into the bathroom there is a large quadrant glass shower, vanity unit and cassette toilet, all surrounded with pale green marbled shower walling, again plenty of extra storage as cupboards, shelves and drawers.
The saloon offers an unusual compromise of open plan/dinette arrangement, mostly open plan. Our customers challenged us to create a two seater dinette that would still be a spare bed. We came up with a two seater with table and a coffee table as well (all with storage of course). This can be used as just the two seater or an 'L' shape sofa or a pullman style dinette or sofa with coffee table, which can also be a bench seat. It all makes a spare bed as well!
The saloon also has a radio/cd/mp3 player with ceiling speakers fitted, a clever little swing cupboard with storage shelves from which the cassette for the toilet is removed, a 6kw solid fuel stove with tumbled marble tiled surround (diesel powered central heating is also fitted) and beautiful internal stained glass shutters for the the two sets of side doors. These were locally commissioned and give a fabulous light effect with the sun coming through them.
Into the galley we created hand made bespoke ash units with drawers, cupboards, top cupboards, airing cupboard, wet cupboard, fridge, freezer, built in oven, microwave and washing machine unit, all topped with green corian work top, into which glass covered sink and hob units were fitted. Again complimenting tumbled marble tiles were used.
The boat has spotlights and solid oak floor throughout with ash tongue and groove ceiling. A 12 volt & 230 volt electrical system runs from 675ah worth of leisure batteries with a 3kw inverter/charger fitted.
A 42hp Isuzu engine gives plenty of power even on rivers.
We are happy to say that our customers have taken delivery of the boat now and are very happy with her, so give them a wave if you see them out and about on Golcar Lily!
